Demoing the Nomad Integral Studio Pack

The folks at this year's ASCAP Expo were kind enough to host a variety of prize draws, and even kinder to award me the Integral Studio Pack by Nomad Factory, which is distributed in North America by ILIO. At the show, I was drawn to the ILIO booth to check out the latest happenings with Vienna Instruments (to which ILIO is also the North American distributer.) Nevertheless, while there, I entered into a draw without really knowing what was up for grabs.

The Integral Studio Pack is a thrown-together collections of many effects plug-ins — reverbs, compressors, the odd vocoder, some really good vintage-modeled EQs. But the ones I was most crazy about were their tape units — Magnetic and Magnetic II.

Tape can be thrown on just about anything to make it sound better. Drums become more punchy, piano takes on a whole new organic quality, cymbals become shimmy-er and bass sits deeper. On the following audio file which was a BLAST to make today, I used the tape plugin on all but one track I think. I'm loving the quality of sound it brings to the table. If you haven't already, check out getting a decent tape unit from somewhere.
