Wound up noodling away at an idea this morning…as always, Reason Drums have long outlasted their expected life, in similar proportion to the Martian MER rovers.
and also, Nomad Factory's 'Magnetic' tape unit is a sheer joy to any track it's applied to.
this morning, I wanted to thicken the snare, increase the stereo image a bit. What ended up happening was a new aux track to thicken the whole kit, two of the plugins which you can see. A barely noticeable sample delay (as there were some phasing issues otherwise), an EQ to take out just a bit of the beef, then a spreader unit set at full after it. The drums were sent to this aux track at around -5db I think. A little idea along the vein of Bernie Herms' theme progression to "Music Inspired by the Story."
