String, brass, and percussion ensembles were all enlisted in the project, skillfully handled by producer Bernie Herms, leading to a truly cinematic sonic experience. But don't think the whole album sounds like a trip through Hollywood — besides the sheer-monumental opener I Am (Creation), you've got everything from the detuned, sparse piano accompaniment in Broken Praise (Job), to the downright gritty country treatment for Move in Me (Paul). Truly, the instrumentation varies considerably from track to track.
One of the album's standout tracks, though, is certainly Mary's song Be Born in Me, as she nervously awaits the arrival of her firstborn child. Nothing but piano, strings, and Francesca Battistelli's voice lead the listener through a truly beautiful, touching narrative.
Though official piano music does exist for some of the Story tracks, I've taken it upon myself to provide a transcription of Herms' original performance as faithfully as possible. Below is a link to the official video and the transcription.
